I have decided for this year that I am going dedicate my time to what I am calling 'Distillation'. The process is simple, reduce everything down to it's essence. This will include everything from household items, personal items, books, clothes, thoughts, ideas and (not homicidally) people.
I have started this process tentatively and thoughtfully as I do not want this to be a New Years Resolution that comes on strong and burns out stronger.
The plan;
1) Reduce physical clutter by selling, donating or recycling as much as possible. The goal, to remove all unused/unloved items keeping only what is necessary or sentimental. If it has no use, it is gone.
2) Reduce household waste by recycling/reusing items
3) Reduce the number of items brought into the home. Only necessities, that includes food.
4) Process new ideas and projects thoroughly, carefully deciding which projects are worthwhile and profitable (not just $$$)
5) Complete started projects that are worth completing (scrap projects that are not profitable-again, not just $$$)
6) Reduce mental clutter through writing, meditating and prayer.
I know it is a daunting list and not something that needs to be done in order, some items are a one of, some are daily.
The goal? Well, I believe that true freedom comes from a lack of attachments. Also, lately I feel that I spend more time taking care of my things than I do on anything else. I also believe that by removing these attachments I can free my mind, my creativity and my wallet.
Please wish me luck, I will keep posting my progress or lack there of for you. Let me know about your resolutions and how you plan on keeping them.

Embracing the difficult
I have been reading about Stoicism and how embracing the difficult and uncomfortable emotions can make you joyful. I can see how this could be effective in life and I see it something akin to strength training for your emotions. Well, time to give it a try and to embrace my current anxieties over my 6 month old start up design studio. Wish me luck.
